In the article, on the basis of a comparative analysis, the characteristic features of the Polish and Soviet legislation of the interwar period in the sphere of counteracting and combating homeless children are determined. Analyzed the historical and legal background of the occurrence of the phenomenon of child homelessness, as well as the legal steps of the official authorities to combat it in the 1920-1930s. The period under study is characterized by active legislative work and the publication of a number of decrees providing for the introduction of measures to prevent and combat child neglect. Attention is focused on the fact that both Soviet and Polish legislation was full of ideological content.
